The Museum Guru
You would never know that Soledad (Sol) Picon grew up surrounded by rugged nature in a small remote town in southern Argentina. Sol is statuesque, with a larger-than-life personality, and is part of the Executive Team at The Bass, one of the most successful contemporary art museums. She arrived in Miami in 1999, after graduating as an architect and began her immersion in a fast-growing art scene. Soon she joined the Board of Directors at the MOCA museum and followed Silvia Karman Cubina when she became Executive Director of The Bass Museum.
Sol’s mission as Director of Individual Giving is to make The Bass part of the community of Miami Beach. “As an architect, I never worked as an architect, but it was for me an illusion of building something.” See our interview to learn how children in Miami Beach are now members of the museum from the minute they are born.
Discover how the museum creates content and entertainment for children, teens and young adults helping these next generations experience art. Find out about the free events that take place every month at the museum and Sol’s favorite neighborhood restaurants and bars.
