The Community Guru
Most people who have heard of Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCSSFL) associate the organization with helping the elderly and running food banks. The organization has served as a safety net for at-risk people in our community for 105 years and their programs serve all individuals in our community, regardless of religion.
Last month the Miami Herald named them Best Nonprofit 2024 and as you will hear in our interview with their inspiring CEO Miriam Singer it is hard to choose which of their programs is needed most in our community. They provide counseling services to children in partnership with The Children’s Trust and Miami-Dade County Public Schools. They work with families dealing with domestic abuse, financial assistance, and emergency shelter. They have an LGBTQIA+ program with Lambda Living. They even manage the 211 suicide prevention helpline 24 hours a day.
