The Color Guru
Alex was only four years old when her maternal grandmother taught her to paint. Her dad had a green thumb and she spent hours in their backyard painting landscapes. As an art student, she studied in Boston, Florence, Barcelona, and eventually New York where she felt “the vibration was just on”. She loved studying at Hunter College but felt New York schooled her with the opportunity to visit museums and galleries and create an art network with other artists.
After nine years in NY, she returned to Miami in 2017 and currently has her studio at Collective 62 an all-women studio artist-run space founded by artist Nina Surel. Alex’s work is a colorful magical interpretation of nature using acrylic paint with metallic tones, pastels, and gold leaf. Visit @thecollective62 to see her monumental work during their Open Studio days.
