Interior of a cozy bookstore featuring a wooden table with numerous books displayed. Shelves filled with books line the walls, and a decorative rug enhances the room's charm.

Cauley Square is a historic village located 30 miles south of Miami and is considered the beginning of the Historic Redlands Tropical Trail. Follow the hand-painted red street signs and make your way through the gardens to discover shops, a yoga studio, a bookstore, a salt cave and the charming The Village Chalet restaurant.  These small wooden shops were built by South Dade pioneers who arrived with Flagler’s rail, and they were restored in the early 2000s. You can shop for jewelry, paintings and home goods and decorations.

The highlight of the visit is the beautiful Tea Room filled with china, lace, and crystal chandeliers where you can have afternoon tea with cucumber and smoked white fish sandwiches followed by cranberry and orange scones and macarons. Service is $35 per person. Or upgrade to High Tea service with a three-tiered plate filled with quiches, sandwiches, and sweets for $40 per person. There is a Nursery Tea for kids with grilled cheese sandwiches, cookies, and banana bread for $18 per kid.

Follow the Historical Redlands Tropical Trail and discover farms where you can purchase tropical fruits, orchids, and bonsais. You can visit Schnebly Winery to taste some local wine and beer varieties or take the kids to the Everglades Alligator Farm and discover the Everglades via airboat.
