KEYMIA Sharps

The Tour Guru

When we first met Keymia Sharp, the founder of Key2Mia she told us “I came to Miami for what I thought was love, but it was the city that kept me here”. At first she longed for the southern hospitality and easy pace of her native North Carolina. When she attended the Calle Ocho Festival she started to fall in love with Miami. As she slowly explored and discovered the cultural, culinary, and art mecca that is Miami, she began to realize she was on to something special.

Like many of us who live in Miami, Keymia would get calls from family and friends asking for recommendations of what to visit. Where should we go? What should we eat? Where should we stay? Keymia carved out a unique career out of answering these questions and showing visitors the best of Miami.

She created Key2MIA to take people beyond the beach and let them experience Miami like a local.

She has 3 signature tours in her favorite neighborhoods: Wynwood Art, Historic Overtown and the Calle Ocho Experience. She also offers corporate tours curated by personal interests and virtual culinary experiences where you can cook and prepare menus with local chefs.

We asked Keymia to recommend a few of her favorite local spots. The Carolina native proudly declared her favorite place to eat Southern food is a gem in North Miami called Smith & Webster. It is owned by former NFL player Keyvon Webster and well known food blogger Starex Smith (@thehungryblackman). We went for their fun Happy Hour (Wed- Fri 4-7) and ordered their delicious Crab and Collard Green Rockefeller Oysters, their Crispy Shrimp in Cilantro Oil and their Mac and Cheese made with three cheeses. Margaritas, wine and martinis are only $8. They have great music and their bar is always packed so you need to make a reservation.

Keymia loves the outdoors and told us she loves riding ATVs . She recommended Miami ATV Rentals where you can ride through country roads for miles passing local farms. She reminded us that Miami has surprises around every corner.

GuruTip: Until September 30th you can use code GURUMIA for 10% off any signature tour or custom itinerary with Key2MIA. You can also get a 10% on a Miami ATV Rental if you mention Key2MIA.
